Torch on felt is commonly used in combination with a 2mm underlay and plywood to create a reliable, durable and weathertight flat roof. It is applied by being rolled out across the roof and heated with a blow torch, melting the lower layer of felt and essentially welding it to the roof. It consists of a waterproof membrane composed of plastomer bitumen and a polyester-glass combination inlay. The upper surface is finished with sand and the lower surface is protected by a thermo fusible layer.
