Mortice deadlocks are commonly fitted to wooden doors and be locked from both the inside and outside with the right key. The lock itself is fitted within the door unlock other locks which sit on the surface. Mortice deadlocks are ideal for fitting to front or back doors, especially with the 5 level technology which requires the key to turn 5 levers (rather than 3) which gives the lock a high security rating.
The mechanism for the lock is relatively large so the door in question will require enough thickness to accommodate the lock. When the correct key is inserted, the levers align and the mechanism will rotate which in turn extends the bolt. If an incorrect key is used, it might not even fit into the lock or it won’t trigger the levers correctly and not withdraw the bolt.
5 levers means the lock granted a high security status. The five levers are moved into position when a key is inserted and then turned into the lock. The deadlock will require two door handles.
